European Union deploys Election Observation Mission to Timor Leste

The European Commission announced in June 2007 the deployment of an Election Observation Mission (EOM) to the parliamentary elections taking place in East Timor on 30 June, following an invitation by the country's authorities.

Javier Pomés was appointed the Chief Observer of the Mission, having led the EU EOM sent earlier in the year to observer Timor Leste's presidential elections.
