The European Union (Approvals) Bill [HL] was introduced in the House of Lords on 26 November 2012 and passed to its Third Reading in the Lords on 21 January 2013 without debate. The Bill received a Second Reading in the Commons on 4 February 2013 and was committed to a Committee of the Whole House on 11 February 2013. There were three amendments, all from Christopher Chope, which gave rise to debate on the EU’s involvement in human rights matters, the cost of its agencies and of the Commission, as well as more general debate on the UK’s relationship with the EU. All the amendments were withdrawn and the Bill passed its Third Reading unamended. |
