Summary: Anna Diamantopoulou, Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs, signed on 12 March 2001 a decision approving the new EQUAL Community Initiative Programme for Sweden for the period 2001-2006. Under the programme, the European Social Fund (ESF) provides € 86.2 million to develop new ways of fighting discrimination and inequality in the field of employment. The overall budget for the Swedish programme is € 172.4 million, of which € 78.1 million is contributed by the Swedish public sector, € 86.2 million by the EU and € 8.1 million from national private sources. |
