European regulators under fire over bank stress tests

Article reported that Europe’s banks were growing increasingly angry in July 2011 over the stress tests being run by European regulators, complaining that the process had been excessively rigid, with damaging changes to the exercise rushed through at the last minute. Results were expected in mid-July 2011.

The European Banking Authority had previously criticised the optimistic assumptions made by some banks in initial submissions, and called on banks instead to apply 'conservatism and consistency.'
