The Societies of Europe is a 9-title series of historical data handbooks and accompanying CD-ROM set on the development of Europe from the nineteenth to the twentieth century. The series is a product of the Mannheim Centre for Social Research, a body dedicated to comparative research on Europe and one of the leading social research institutes in the world. It is a collection of datasets giving a clear and systematic study of long-term developments in European society. The data is presented statistically and is clearly comparative.

European Regions is a comparative and historical reference handbook with accompanying CD-ROM, giving comprehensive coverage of territorial regions throughout the whole of Europe in the period 1870-2000. The work provides a systematic presentation of state formation and boundary-building, the territorial structure and political-administrative status of regions for each of the 23 countries covered. In addition, the CD-ROM contains a complete set of digital regional maps in GIS format for the single countries and Europe as a whole for various points in time (usually 10-year intervals).
