European Parliament votes to lift Marine Le Pen’s immunity over graphic IS images

The European Parliamen's legal affairs committee voted on 2 March 2017 to lift Marine Le Pen's parliamentary immunity after she tweeted violent images of the Islamic State (IS) group. Legal action against her thus became possible.

Ms Le Pen and members of her party denounced the decision as a political witch hunt to destabilise her presidential campaign in France.
