Summary: The European Endowment for Democracy (EED) is an organisation established by the European Union (EU) in June 2012 to support political parties, non-registered NGOs, trade unions and other social partners in an effort to promote deep and sustainable democracy, as well as respect for human rights and the rule of law. Further information: The EED is a joint political project, supported by the EU and its Member States. It was defined as a political objective in the Communication related to the European Neighbourhood Policy and later by different Council conclusions. |
