The European Medicines Agency (EMA) supported European Antibiotic Awareness Day, which took place on 18 November 2011. This day is an annual European public health initiative that aims to raise awareness of the threat to public health and animal health of antibiotic resistance. The Agency also welcomed the launch by the European Commission of a new 12-point action plan on antimicrobial resistance.
