The European Commission's planned reform of the European air traffic control system with the aim of creating a “single European sky” has been given strong support by the UK. “European air transport is headed directly towards gridlock unless the European Commission's single sky initiative is quickly agreed and put into effect,” said Roy McNulty, chairman of National Air Traffic Services (Nats), the UK air traffic control system, at a conference in Maastricht, 21.2.01.
