Europe dominates EU leaders’ New Year messages

Report on the New Year speeches given by various European leaders at the beginin of January 2017. In particular, the articles focuses on the speeches of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President François Hollande, Italian President Sergio Mattarella and United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May.

In her New Year’s address the German Chancellor expressed 'our resolute determination to counter the terrorists’ world of hate with our compassion and our cohesion'. Considering 'our democracy, our government based on the rule of law, and our values' she was still confident in Germany.
