European governments were set to defy Chinese pressure to boycott the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in December 2010 even as Beijing warned of 'consequences' for countries that showed support for Liu Xiaobo, the Chinese dissident awarded the 2010 prize.

Several European governments told the Financial Times on the 5 November 2010 they would be sending representatives to the ceremony in Oslo on 10 December.
