Summary:

A meeting of the Eurogroup was held on 12 July 2018. The agenda included the following items:

  • Information on the outcome of the Euro Summit held on 29 June, including issues relating to the deepending of the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU);
  • Presentation of the European Commission's summer interim economic forecast;
  • Discussion on the budgetary situation in the Eurozone, focusing on prospects for the following year;
  • Presentation of the European Fiscal Board (EFB) report;
  • Presentation of the main findings from the latest post-programme surveillance missions to Ireland and Spain;
  • Presentation of the main findings in relation to the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) early warning system in both countries;
  • Information on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Article IV consultation with Ireland.

In the margins of the meeting, Eurozone member state representatives, the European Central Bank (ECB) and Denmark met in the presence of the European Commission and of Bulgaria to discuss the prospects of Bulgaria's participation in the European Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM II).
