EU-wide protest movements set for gains in European elections

Researchers said during a debate organised by the Open Society European Policy Institute on the 27 January 2014 that protest movements were emerging throughout the EU as more people rejected established party politics in the lead up to the European Parliament elections in May 2014.

Preliminary predictions by Brussels-based VoteWatch Europe, based on trends in the polls at that point, suggested that far-right parties could end up with around 100 MEPs following the May poll.
