EU wants better deal for road accident victims / EU wants better deal for road victims

Under proposals announced by the European Commission on 10 June 2002, road accident victims could receive at least €1 million in compensation, nearly three times more than at present. The Commission would also like insurers to offer accident cover to cyclists and pedestrians, even when motorists are not at fault.
