The European Union and the United States have many sharedinterests in Central Asia, but follow different approaches. This policy brief looks into shared interests, diverging objectives, and why cooperation is largely confined to irregular coordination talks instead of practical cooperation.

This document is the result of two seminars organised by FRIDE’s EUCAM programme and the George Washington University’s Central Asia Program that took place in Brussels in February and in Washington DC in April 2013.
