EU urged to go ahead with tougher bank rules

Report of comments by Mark Hoban, Financial Secretary to the UK Treasury in Brussels, 14 March 2011. He said that Europe should not let concerns over banks’ ability to lend deflect it from implementing tougher rules on the capital they hold. 'Concerns about lending should not be used as an excuse to weaken Europe’s implementation of Basel III'.
