EU to unveil bank data deal with US

The European Commission unveiled the text of a draft agreement on the 15 June 2010 on sharing its citizens’ banking data with the US for the purposes of combating terrorism, in an effort to sell the deal to the 27 Member States and the European Parliament.

The new version of the SWIFT anti-terrorist agreement on bank data transfers to the USA was approved by the European Parliament on the 8 July 2010.
