EU to end Aceh peacekeeping mission

EU foreign ministers on 11 December agreed to end the EU’s monitoring mission to the Indonesian province of Aceh on 15 December, after local elections concluded peacefully. Although official results are not expected for another month, former Aceh-separatist leader Irwandi Yusuf looks set to be declared the winner.

The European Commission has delayed adopting a proposal aimed at cleaning up member states’ patchwork of different rules for copyright levies on blank recording media and digital music file players such as Apple’s iPod.
