Summary: Communication published by the European Commission on 28 June 2021, setting out a framework concerning health and safety at work for the period 2021-2027. Further information: This framework sets out a number of actions required to improve workers' health and safety over a period of time between 2021 and 2027. It includes updating relevant legislation focusing on occupational safety and health. The strategy focuses on three cross-cutting objectives, namely managing change brought by green, digital and demographic transitions as well as changes to the traditional work environment, improving prevention of accidents and illnesses, and increasing preparedness for any potential future crises. The updated framework was first announced in the European Commission's Work Programme for 2021. Provisions on health and safety at work are also part of theĀ European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR). The strategy replaces the previousĀ EU Strategic Framework on Health and Safety at Work 2014-2020. The new framework draws on input from several stakeholders, report, recommendations and hearings, exchanges with social partners and independent experts, a public consultation. |
