Following the terrorist attacks in Brussels on 22 March 2016, the European Commission's Committee for Civil Aviation Security held an emergency meeting on 31 March.

Security experts agreed that police and intelligence agencies should share more information with transport authorities and operators to help prevent similar attacks on European soil. At the meeting, they reviewed existing security measures in landslide area of EU airports.

Media reported that these matters would be followed up during an informal meeting of transport ministers on 14-15 April.
