Summary: In April 2017, the European Commission launched the European Pillar of Social Rights, which is a package of legislative proposals and recommendations aimed at enhancing work-life balance, fostering equal opportunities and better access to the labour market, as well as improving working conditions. This is part of a wider drive from the Commission to strengthen the social dimension of the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), in the context of declining trust for the EU by citizens and in the wake of the 2008-09 financial crisis. This note offers a selection of studies, reports and commentaries by some of the major international think tanks and research institutes on EU social policies. More studies can be found on previous editions of this series. |
