EU set to make progress with Mercosur in Fourth Round of Association Negotiations.

The fourth round of Association Negotiations with Mercosur were held in Brussels on 19-22 March 2001, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Mercosur's foundation. Negotiations were held through a series of parallel political, co-operation and trade meetings at expert level.

The talks included discussions on the institutional framework of the future agreement, on social and cultural co-operation and on EU negotiating proposals for a broad range of items on the trade agenda.
