EU releases additional aid as crisis in Democratic Republic of Congo’s Kasaï worsens

The additional funding aims to meet the most urgent needs of those internally displaced persons (the majority of whom are women and children), hit by a deteriorating situation in the conflict-ridden region.

This funding brings EU humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable in the DRC to almost €28 million since the beginning of 2017, following a first batch of aid unveiled in April.

The European Commission announced on 5 July 2017 the allocation of €5 million in additional humanitarian aid to help people of the provinces of Kasaï, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
