EU parliament backs constitution

By a large majority, the European Parliament endorsed the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe on the 12 January 2005 and says it 'wholeheartedly supports its ratification'. The resolution was adopted by 500 votes in favour to 137 votes against, with 40 abstentions.
