EU opens delegation in Mongolia

Background and further information:

The decision to open a Delegation in Ulaanbaatar was previously agreed by the European Commission and the Council of the European Union and it was seen as revealing of the progress in developing the relations between Mongolia and the European Union.

The High Representative Federica Mogherini highlighted the country geostrategic importance and congratulated Mongolia on the political and economic progress it achieved in such a complex region.

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Policy decided in July 2017 to allow for the opening of an EU delegation in Mongolia's capital Ulaanbaatar.
