EU moves to cure vodka headache

The Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee of the European Parliament has suggested, January 2007 a possible solution to a dispute between EU states over the definition of vodka.

In a vote on a draft regulation on the definition and labelling of spirit drinks, 30 January 2007 the Committee called for differentiated labelling of traditional vodka and other types of vodka. It also came out against the flavouring of spirits as well as voting to preserve Parliament's co-decision powers over the definition of these drinks.
