EU legislation:
Free movement of workers. The Commission has adopted three legislative proposals aimed at updating and clarifying citizens' rights to move about the EU to take up work. The first two proposals modify and update Regulation 1612/68 and Directive 68/360, the two core pieces of EU legislation in this area. The third proposal is for a Decision to merge two existing tripartite consultative committees, one on the free movement of workers, the other on the co-ordination of social security schemes, into a single tripartite advisory body with a clearer policy focus.
