Summary:

The seventeenth (17th) Cooperation Council meeting between the European Union (EU) and Kazakhstan was held on 20 January 2020.

Further information:

The Cooperation Council confirmed the mutual commitment in further strengthening bilateral relations, and the implementation of the EU-Kazakhstan Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) in a number of areas was reviewed. Both sides also discussed the importance of good governance, the promotion and protection of human rights and cooperation with civil society.

The European Union congratulated Kazakhstan for the ratification of its agreement with the Council of Europe on immunities and privileges of the representatives of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO). The Cooperation Council welcomed recent positive developments in the Central Asian regional cooperation.
