EU islands: call for action to overcome permanent handicaps

The European Parliament's plenary session approved a resolution on 4 February 2016 urging the European Commission to take concrete steps to address the permanent handing that islands in the European Union face and make full use of their potential.

The text also stresses the unique difficulties that southern insular regions face due to the increased migration flows and asks that special tax regimes should continue.
