The European Union launched in March 2013 a project aiming at contributing to the fight against money laundering in Cape Verde, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal.

The project intends to help law enforcement agencies to better investigate money laundering, and thereby fight organised crime. At the same time, it aims to increase regional cooperation among these countries which are part of the 'Cocaine route'. The anti-money laundering project is worth €1.8 million and is funded under the Instrument for Stability and part of the 'Cocaine Route Programme'.
