EU group ‘could go it alone on tax’

In an interview with the French newspaper 'Le Monde', Frits Bolkestein, European Commissioner for the Internal Market, said an inner core of Member States could soon be able to agree common rules to make their tax systems more transparent. Mr Bolkestein said he would draw up proposals before the current Commission's term ends in October 2004.
