EU finds a clearer voice in the UN

EurActiv reports that a decision in the 192-nation General Assembly on the 3 May 2011 saw 180 countries vote in favour of granting the EU 'super observer' status, which does not give the bloc voting rights but will allow the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy to speak on behalf of the European Union.

The Resolution adopted will in future enable EU representatives to present and promote the EU's positions
in the UN, as agreed by its Member States
