EU finance chiefs back banks to weather storm

European Union Finance Ministers voiced strong confidence in the ability of Europe's banks and other financial institutions to weather the storms in world credit markets, according to the statement issued at the end of an informal ECOFIN Ministerial Meeting, Porto, 14-15 September 2007.
