EU enlargement and its consequences for Norway. A survey of the possible effects on Norway and Norwegian interests of EU enlargement and the challenges it poses

An internal working group was set up in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the autumn of 1998 to follow the process of EU enlargement. The aim of the group was to explore how EU enlargement, and consequently enlargement of the EEA, would affect Norway and Norwegian interests. The results of these studies show that EU enlargement is expected to have positive consequences for Norway, as for the rest of Europe.
