EU Engineering Database, August 2004

DG Enterprise has just updated the data in its EU Engineering Database to include statistics for 2003. Strictly speaking this is not a searchable database but it does contain some useful sets of comparative information about the engineering industry in the EU and its main competitors, the USA and Japan. The site at http://europa.eu.int/comm/enterprise/mechan_equipment/statistics/index.htm offers a list of countries linking to PDF files giving tables of data including import, export, production and share of the market information for the years 1995 to 2003. Additionally there is a short report giving a competitive update on the EU engineering industry, so altogether the site offers a little hidden nugget of useful data for those interested in this subject area.
