According to Orgalime, a Brussels-based industry body, European Union moves to restrict steel imports as part of the trade conflict with the US are damaging Europe's engineering industry. In April 2002 Orgalime wrote to Erkki Liikanen and Pascal Lamy, European Commissioners for Enterprise and Trade respectively, complaining of 'over hasty' moves to reduce EU steel imports.
