EU condemns Thailand’s deportation of Uighurs to China

EurActiv reported in July 2015 that tension was rising between the European Union, Thailand and China, following Thailand's move to deport hundreds of members of the Uighur community to China.

EU's high representative for foreign affairs Federica Mogherini stated on 10 July 2015 that 'Thailand's deportation of around 100 Uighurs, persons of Turkic origin, including women and children, to China is a breach of the principle of non-refoulement, which is a core tenet of international humanitarian law.'
