European Union Member States in the Council of the European Union and Members of the European Parliament have reached a preliminary deal on cutting mobile roaming charges, May 2007. After four rounds of negotiations with the Council Presidency, the team of MEPs representing Parliament reached a tentative agreement on the 'Roaming on public mobile networks' regulation. The text, finally endorsed, after modifications, by the Presidency in discussions on the 15 May 2007, is likely to pave the way for a first-reading adoption of the dossier. It still needs the backing of the full Parliament. The Council is expected to give its approval to the compromise package on the 16 May 2007.
