The European Parliament's Liberal Group (ALDE) suggested in January that possible savings could be made to the EU budget by 'fundamentally restructuring certain parts of the EU administration, such as the Committee of Regions ... [and] abolishing the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and others'. EESC President Staffan Nilsson responded by saying he found the viewpoint as 'strange' and based on MEP ignorance. |
