Summary: The seventeenth (17th) bilateral summit between Canada and the European Union was held on 17-18 July 2019. Further information: Leaders from both sides agreed to intensify bilateral relations and step up cooperation to address global challenges. They reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism and rules-based trade. Canada and the European Union also called for further efforts to fight climate change. At the summit, leaders from both sides discussed strategic cooperation on global challenges. Foreign and security issues also featured on the agenda.
