EU budget rebate comes under renewed pressure

The UK's European Union budget rebate, secured by former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in 1984, is under threat. Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission, says the rebate belongs 'to another period in European history, and the new Dutch Presidency of the EU believes the whole system of EU financing needs reform.
