EU backs African asylum project

Report from the informal Justice and Home Affairs Council, The Hague, 30 September - 1 October 2004, at which JHA Ministers were said to have agreed to help to finance five United Nations projects inside Africa aimed at dealing with asylum seekers. UNHCR later claimed that the EU plans should not be confused with a separate UNHCR initiative, which had EU support.
