EU authorities on official visit to African Union headquarters

The European Union's Commissioner for International Cooperation and the EU's High Representative for Foreign Policy visited the African Union headquarters on 17 March 2017. The aim of the visit was to strengthen ties and boost partnership with the African Union on common areas of cooperation. In this respect, they met with the leader of the African Union Commission which had taken office just two days before.

During the official visit, the European Commission announced further support for the Horn of Africa region, as well as for the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
