EU at a Glance, November 2005

The EU at a Glance pages at {http://europa.eu.int/abc/index_en.htm} have been revamped to achieve a more accessible layout and style. Aimed in particular at more general users and young people and providing basic data about the EU, the web pages have been brightened up by including many more graphics. The main page incorporates a rolling series of questions and answers designed to highlight the benefits of EU membership in an attempt to convey a more positive image of the EU. The downside is that heavier use of graphics seems to be slowing down the loading of the pages. However this is still the shortcut to all those basic facts, organised under the sections Panorama of the EU, Europe in 12 lessons, Countries, Treaties and law, Travelling in Europe, The symbols of the EU, History, Key facts and figures, and Eurojargon.
