EU approves new takeover rules

Report of decision taken by the Competitiveness Council, Brussels, 27 November 2003 regarding the proposed takeover Directive. The Council reached unanimously agreement with the abstention of the Spanish delegation, on a general approach, pending the European Parliament's first reading opinion, on a draft Directive on take-over bids. The Council will adopt a common position at a forthcoming meeting after finalisation of the text.
