EurActiv reported that José Manuel Barroso, European Commission President, made an appeal against extremism on the 13 September 2012, as demonstrators in Yemen, Egypt and other countries in North Africa and the Middle East attacked US embassies, outraged by a blasphemous American film posted online a few days earlier.
