The European Union’s ambassador to Turkey, Hansjörg Haber, resigned in June 2016 following his remarks criticising the Turks for their handling of a deal to tackle the refugee crisis, and telling them they should be more like Germans. Mr Haber had appointed less than a year before. These remarks happened as the agreement between Turkey and the European Union on dealing with refugees and migrants trying to come into Europe could collapse. |
