EU allocates further funding for Global Partnership for Education

Background information:

The funding comes on top of the €375 million committed in 2014. It aims to help ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, thus contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The European Union is the biggest contributor to the Global Partnership for Education, providing 63% of its overall funds. This announcement comes two months prior to GPE's Financing Conference in Dakar, Senegal.

The European Commission announced on 5 December 2017 an additional contribution of €100 million from the European Union to replenish the Global Partnership for Education.
