Since 1993 EU citizens have been able to vote and stand in European or municipal office in their country of residence, even if they are not nationals. There has been an increase in the number of non-nationals voting in European Parliament elections, but few stood as candidates in 2004. Will that change in 2009? We asked some MEPs, who were elected by a country of which they are not a national, what they think. |
