Summary:

A meeting of the Environment Council was held on 13 December 2013. The agenda includes the following items:

• Discussion on draft regulation on a monitoring system of CO2 emission for maritime transport;
• Public policy debate on draft regulation on the prevention and management of the introduction and spread of invasive alien species;
• Adoption of regulation establishing an instrument for nuclear safety cooperation;
• Adoption of regulations on support for nuclear decommissioning assistance programmes in Bulgaria, Slovakia and Lithuania for the period 2014-2020;
• Adoption of Decision amending Decision establishing the European joint undertaking for ITER (called 'Fusion for Energy') for the period 2014-2020;
• Adoption of authorisation allowing the European Commission to negotiate with Switzerland the latter's participation in the Erasmus+ programme.
